Terrorism: An American Frankenstein?

Frankenstein is the creature made by a mad scientist from dead body parts. The creature is dangerous, scary and violent. The humanoid creature has partial social skills, but lacks appropriate judgment skills, with unpredictable results. Frankenstein represents the evils that come from inappropriate human interference in processes that are the natural purvey of the divine. It represents modern violation of eternal taboos, the taking of forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge.
Since terrorism is the use of terror to promote political, social or other causes, on the face of it, there are the righteous and the evil and the difference is inherently apparent to all with any moral judgment. However, the problems begin when those who feign to be righteous are found to be deceptive and dishonest and themselves causing terror. Americans feel that the 9-11 terrorist acts were so heinous in killing large numbers of innocent people in such destructive sneak attacks that those able to commit them would be able to perpetrate any evil. Unfortunately, the American government has used 9-11 as the ultimate justification, the “Pearl Harbor” that gives free license to limit any and all freedoms and liberties for the sake of security.
In fact, it is well documented that the American C.I.A. provided financial and other resources to Osama Bin-Laden and al-Qaeda about 25 years ago, in a bid to cause problems for the USSR in its invasion and occupation of Afghanistan. After about 10 years, the Soviets removed their troops from Afghanistan, because of the carnage caused by the Mujahedeen, a loose alliance of Islamic and tribal groups in opposition to the communist government of the time. It is that same radical group of extremist Islamics which targeted American embassies in Africa, U.S. military assets in Saudi Arabia and Yemen and the World Trade Center towers in NYC. In effect,
America helped build and support al-Qaeda and its terrorist ways, when al-Qaeda was targeting our communist enemies. However, when the USSR was no longer much of a threat, al-Qaeda shifted its target from one super power to the other super power.
Al-Qaeda is not the only time that opportunism by the American government ultimately caused problems for us, due to differences in morals and aims. The administrations of President Ronald Reagan and George W.H. Bush provided support and cooperation to Iraq’s Saddam Hussein, in his war against Iran. Reagan Administration secretly sold weapons
